Lifelong continuing education: Why is it important? How does one know which opportunities are most meaningful? With commentary from DOCS Education President Dr. Michael Silverman, SSW will kick off with a thoughtful look at the best educational opportunities available to oral health professionals.
Up to five $1000 Pediatric Sedation Dentistry scholarships will be awarded to dentists working in the nonprofit sector. DOCS Education believes anxiety-free dentistry should be available to everyone who needs it — and will provide these scholarships in an attempt to bolster access to pediatric sedation dentistry for children of low-income households. Last year's scholarship winner will also share his story.
Of the thousands of reputable sedation dentists across the United States, one dentist who displays unusual commitment to safety and patient wellbeing will be selected from a pool of peer-nominated clinicians as the 2015 Sedation Safety Dentist of the Year.
Capnography is rapidly becoming the go-to conversation topic of dental organizations and clinicians alike. Once confined to large hospitals, capnography technology is a practice-changing safety resource that assists dentists in reaching - and exceeding - the standard of care. DOCS Education will provide advice on utilizing this potentially life-saving yet affordable technology.
Participating pediatric sedation dental practices across the nation will be profiled participating in the 2nd annual Tooth Faire. This open house is a joyful opportunity for dentists to invite families into their practice and allow children to learn about oral health while forming early, positive memories of visiting the dentist.
In conjunction with the Sixth Annual Sedation Safety Week (SSW), four $1,000 educational scholarships were awarded to dentists who work in the non-profit sector. We are pleased to announce our scholarship winners have been selected. These outstanding dentists have all displayed an exceptional commitment to safety and excellence in pediatric dentistry:
These $1,000 scholarships will help facilitate their ability to receive advanced training in pediatric safety by attending DOCS Education's Pediatric Sedation Dentistry course. This three-day, comprehensive course provides clinicians with the foundational skills to begin implementing pediatric sedation into their practices and will help these dentists continue on their journey of providing children around the nation with the dental treatment they need and deserve.
Tens of thousands of dentists practice sedation dentistry, and sedation continuing education organization, DOCS Education, is taking the week of March 17 to raise awareness on sedation safety. Each year beginning the Monday after daylight savings time, DOCS Education highlights specific issues vital to safe and rewarding sedation implementation. All dentists are highly urged to participate by testing their safety equipment and checking shelf-life dates of supplies as well as reviewing state regulations and safety procedures.
